01Synopsis
Maya Vance, 28, is working her final shift at the 911 dispatch center before leaving the job for good. It's raining hard.
The night starts with routine calls (a fender bender, a lonely regular) until a red line blinks and a small voice whispers: "... he's in my house." The call traces to 44 Harlow Lane, a Victorian house abandoned for fifteen years, where a family vanished without a trace. Following protocol, Maya keeps the frightened girl, "Lily," eight years old, on the line while Officer Reyes races through the storm.
But Lily begins describing things she couldn't know: Maya's childhood bedroom, the glow-in-the-dark stars on the ceiling, her mother's lullaby. And then Lily says Maya's name. Chief Dan pulls the old file, and the truth surfaces: the Harlow house is Maya's house. Maya is Lily. Fifteen years ago, an eight-year-old girl called 911 from that house and never remembered. Now the loop is closing.
Maya drives into the storm, walks into the dust-sheeted house, lifts a receiver that has been off the hook for fifteen years, and hears Lily's voice in the room. To break the loop, Maya must talk her younger self out of the dark, sing the lullaby one last time, and tell her to run to the porch light. At dawn, the house is empty. The phone is warm.
