The Starchild's Lullaby
Some bonds are written in starlight.
01Synopsis
On the alien ocean moon of Velara, young healer Lyra rescues a dying human astronaut from a crashed ship and makes an impossible promise: to carry his unborn child through the sacred lifebond, so the baby of Earth does not die alone in the dark.
As the child, Kai, grows inside her and is born, Lyra's people turn against her. The Council demands the outsider child be "returned to the stars." With her brother Tovan's help, Lyra flees into the glowing forest, hunted by the very village she once healed.
At the tide pools at dawn, cornered, Lyra offers her own life for the child's. Then the sky itself intervenes: a meteor cracks the crystal cliffs above the Council's children, and Lyra throws her body over them: the alien children of the people who called her traitor.
In that moment, fear breaks. The village sees what a mother is. Kai speaks his first word, "Ma... ma...", and the stars, it seems, forgive.
